Brno

Brno is located in the central part of Europe, in the Czech Republic. The City of Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic with a population of 370,000 (Prague is the largest city by far; one in every 10 Czech citizens lives there. Prague is followed by Brno in the Southeast, Ostrava in the Northeast and Plzen in the western part of the territory). It is the metropolis of the South Moravia Region; at the same time, it represents the centre of Moravia, one of the historic Czech Crown Lands. Economy of the City of Brno and its surroundings benefits a lot from its location which is one of the key factors in successful attracting foreign direct investments; the South Moravia Region has experienced a rapid economic growth in the recent years and the standard of living has started to rise. The South Moravia Region contributes by 10 per cent to the overall GDP of the country. The most of GDP is produced in the City of Brno and its surroundings; the share of the city is estimated on 55-60 per cent on the regional GDP. Theme of Local Action Plan:

“The cooperation in elaborating strategic documents and developing the common projects ” through six key areas: suburbanization / transport and mobility / labour market and knowledge economy / environment and technical infrastructure / tourism and recreation / social sphere - with strategic planning as common theme for all these areas. The aim is to improve cooperation between the municipalities of the metropolitan area.
