Dynamics of deprived neighbourhoods in the URBACT cities
The development of deprived urban areas in Europe has always been a central concern for the URBACT programme. The French General Secretariat for urban and social development (SGCIV) highlights the results of URBACT projects related to the development of deprived neighbourhoods in a publication entitled "Dynamics of deprived neighbourhoods in the URBACT cities" (only available in French).

UNIC project brings lasting benefits for Limoges - Interview
Sylvette Duterne works in the French city of Limoges, Lead Partner of the URBACT project Urban Network for Innovation in Ceramics - UNIC. UNIC's objective was to foster innovation in the ceramics industry in cities where ceramics constitutes an historical inheritance. The project completed its programme of exchange and learning activities in July 2011. A few months after the end of the project, Sylvette Duterne explains the main benefits her city gained from her participation in URBACT.

20 URBACT projects have completed their programme of exchange and learning activities in 2011. The project partners have been working relentlessly for three years looking for joint, effective and sustainable solutions to major urban challenges. You will find in this new 'URBACT Results' brochure the results, recommendations and outputs of these projects.

Collaborative practices for inclusive urban regeneration
Co-production of public services, jobs and enterprises could improve service quality and reduce governmental spending at the same time. Today many national and local governments are rediscovering this idea, especially in Europe where cities have been hit hard by the economic downturn. That is why current collaborative practice of urban regeneration puts an emphasis on core elements such as: effective partnership working, integrated approach to problem solving and strong involvement of local communities.
