Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana shortlisted for European Green Capital 2015
Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana have been chosen as the four finalists to proceed to the next stage of the European Green Capital 2015 Award organised by the European Commission. The European Green Capital Award is an annual prize that goes to one city every year, singling out its environmental performance. We are pleased that these 4 cities are also partners in URBACT projects engaged to examine this area of concern.

Mobilising EU Capital Cities: Commissioner Hahn urges Mayors to lead Europe out of crisis
European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn hosted the first direct talks between the European Commission and the EU's capital cities in Brussels on 28 February 2013. Some 20 mayors from capital cities also met Commissioners Neelie Kroes for Digital Agenda and Janez Potocnik for Environment to discuss how they can drive forward the EU's growth agenda, Europe 2020 and help Europe exit the crisis.

Bristol, Copenhagen and Frankfurt Shortlisted for 2014 European Green Capital award
Bristol, Copenhagen and Frankfurt have been chosen as the three finalists in the competition to find Europe's Green Capital for 2014. The European Commission's award scheme encourages cities to improve the quality of urban life by systematically taking the environment into account in urban planning. Bristol and Frankfurt are also partners in URBACT projects engaged to examine this area of concern.

7th report on economic, social and territorial cohesion: the urban and regional dimension of Europe 2020
The seventh progress report on economic, social and territorial cohesion, highlighting the urban and regional dimension of the Europe 2020 strategy has just been published. Hot on the heels of the Commission's legislative proposals for cohesion policy post-2013, the report assesses how, in the context of cohesion policy, regions and cities can contribute to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth and Europe 2020 headline targets.
