Biography keynote speaker Aminul Hoque

From November 18^th to 20^th 2010 a youth council workshop in Warsaw was held. Two My Generation youngsters from Rotterdam participated and have written down their experiences.

On December the 1st 2010, the My Generation Experts and lead partner Rotterdam organised a Fringe workshop in Liège, Belgium for the participants of the annual URBACT conference. During this workshop the participants were introduced to the best feature of My Generation: Co creation.

'You are my favourite dudes from Gdansk' (Enrico, Gothenborg) This way starting his presentation for the policitians of Gdansk, to be convinced of the added of real Youth Participation... This was the perfect summary statement of the successful My Generation workshop experience in Gdansk. Are you getting curious?

The Cracow Summer University was inspiring and motivating for the attendees. While working together they exchanged ideas and worked together to solutions.

Antwerp 31 March and 1 April, 2011

After two and half years of great exchange, learning, fun and inspiration, the My Generation project was formally closed with a final conference in Antwerp on March 31 and April 1^st.  On Thursday 31 March, the closing meeting of the My Generation partners was held. The cities of Antwerp, Birmingham, Glasgow, Gdansk, Gothenburg, Patras, Riga, Rotterdam, Tigu-Mures Valencia and Warsaw were all present with a delegation made up of both professionals and youngsters.

Valencia 29 September - 1 October 2010

From the 29th of September - 1st of October 2010 the My Generation network gathered in Valencia to participate in the Entrepreneurship & Transition to Working Life workshop. The workshop was very successful and all the participants left Valencia with new ideas and inspiration.

Inspiring examples on youth entrepreneurship and the transition to working life were given and the different workshop sessions provided more insight in the cities' policies and possibilities to implement some of the best practice cases.

Gdansk, 26-28 May 2010

From 26-28 May 2010 the My Generation project organised a succesful and inspiring Outreach and Participation workshop in Gdansk. Everybody present could experience REAL CO-CREATION, young people making plans together with the professionals.

Belgium, Antwerp, Final Conference, February 2011

On the 10^th of February 2010 the Dutch national youth participation day was organised by YouthintheCity and Your World (=Rotterdam European Youth Capital Organisation). Many professionals from comprehensive schools, youth councils, neighbourhood organisations, officers, youngsters and other people related to youngsters or people that felt socially responsible to share their opinion with others were present. When all the members had arrived the conference was officially opened with enthusiastic drum beats, dances, films and speeches in order to prepare the guests.

From 13 to 15 May, the partner cities and a number of youths gathered in Glasgow to participate in a workshop on Outreach. To get an understanding of Glasgow's working methods on Outreach, the city provided the partner cities with site visits.

From 1 April until 5 April, 40 young people from 11 European cities gathered in Rotterdam to set the basis for the My Generation project and discussed the following themes:

• Change passivity and negative activities among youth into positive ambitions and actions/activities.
• Create a flexible transition from school to work and prevent school dropout.

Time travelers in Rotterdam

 Rotterdam, September 16th 2008 - Participants of the MY GENERATION Kick off meeting held in Rotterdam mysteriously traveled to the year 2011. This happened during a so called future dialogue workshop.  

In December 2008 young people in Greece provided the whole world with food for thought in relation to youth participation – as the preceding photograph shows. Yet this was not a peculiarly Greek tragedy. The images which flashed around the globe were familiar to all of us – armadillo-like riot police confronting angry youth in a riot of destruction aimed at established structures – political and corporate.
