Results on Living Conditions

The focus of this workpackage is set on "Re-urbanisation" which means that the technical as well as the social infrastructure has to be adapted according to the consequences of demographic change.

This includes the adaptation of public transport, to ensure the supply of goods and services (especially for senior citizens), the modification of open spaces and recreation areas.

Results on Site Advantages

The workshop in Eberswalde in September 2011 focused on the issues of work package 5 - Site Advantages.

Cities should figure out what could be a special advantage of their city or region and how this advantage could be used to develop strategies for a more efficient city development.

Often small and medium sized cities compete with neighbouring towns because all of them face similar challenges. The question is, "Could there be synergetic effects that could be useful for a whole region and even competing cities?"
