Roma-Net

Despite efforts at local, national and European levels Roma populations continue to face high levels of social exclusion and poverty.  Partners of the project believe that integration of Roma populations is a key factor in a cohesive society, as well as in delivering the goals of the Lisbon Strategy.

Municipality of Budapest

The project will be jointly managed  by the Office of EU Affairs (Gizella Matyasi, coordinator) and by the city’s coordinator in charge of equal opportunities (Attila Molnar).

Attila Molnar has been working for the Municipality of Budapest since 2002. His main tasks  are as follows:  organizing the municipality’s connection with minority self governments, NGOs in the field of equal opportunities, institutions of the city and the district municipalities; preparing and supervising the implementation of the equal opportunity strategy of Budapest. He holds  a degree  in sociology (additional qualification in sociology of the media and communications, and post-graduate degree in human resources). molnara@budapest.hu

Gizella Matyasi has been working for the Municipality of Budapest since 1997. She actively participated in the Municipality’s preparations for EU accession. She is the EUROCITIES contact officer in the city and is the director of the Brussels Office. matyasig@budapest.hu; bpoffice@skynet.be

Ann Morton Hyde’s background is in tackling social exclusion, particularly unemployment and exclusion of Roma communities. Ann strongly supports community and stakeholder led area-based development and believes that the Roma-Net project will provide valuable opportunities to apply this approach in our participating cities.  Ann has the necessary mix of EU policy combined with extensive project management and implementation experience to effectively support the actions of Roma-Net.
