The 8th issue of the RegGov Newsletter is published in September 2011 and available in the Outputs section for download.

After the successful implementation of the RegGov Final Conference organised in the spectacular venue of the Landscape Park Duisburg-North in the German Lead Partner city of Duisburg on 12 May 2011, a documentation of the conference produced by the Lead Partner and Lead Expert is now available for download.

More than 150 participants attended the Final Conference of the RegGov network in Duisburg on 12 May 2011. High-ranking representatives from the European Commission, the URBACT Secretariat, the associated Managing Authorities and City Representatives discussed questions of cooperation and governance for deprived neighbourhoods in the context of integrated sustainable neighbourhood development and commented Ten Recommendations related to "Challenges and Conditions for Good Multi-Level Governance".

After three years of intense work the RegGov network has drawn common conclusions in the Final Report. Ten Recommendations related to "Challenges and Conditions for Good Multi-Level Governance" are published together with practical case studies from the Partner Cities.

A Manual for Practical Use in Cities and Regions with summaries of the four Thematic Clusters on Regional Cooperation, Private Involvement, Roma Integration and Monitoring Systems and Evaluation was elaborated by the RegGov Lead Expert and is published in the Outputs section of the project website.

In April 2011, the handbook “Sustainment of integrative neighbourhood development in disadvantaged urban areas in North Rhine-Westphalia” is published by the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

The Local Action Plans elaborated by the RegGov Partner Cities are available in the accordant national languages in the Outputs section together with an English abstract of each Local Action Plan based on a common structure.

The 7th issue of the RegGov Newsletter is published in April 2011 and available in the Outputs section for download.

A Synthesis of the 3 Thematic Seminars and the Joint Seminar for MA & EC in one Thematic Manual with four abstracts was elaborated by the RegGov Lead Expert and is published in the Outputs section of the project website.

In the period from November 2010 to February 2011, the four working groups within the RegGov Network have carried out their third cluster meetings in Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Greece.

The RegGov network was represented at the 3rd German-speaking URBACT Day in Berlin (DE) on 13 December 2010 by Dominik Erbelding from the RegGov Lead Partner, the City of Duisburg, and Petra Potz, RegGov Lead Expert.

The URBACT Annual Conference 2010 took place in the city of Liége in Belgium from Tuesday, November 30 to Wednesday, December 1, 2010 aiming to disseminate the results, experiences, local policies developed by URBACT partners and experts through transnational co-operation.

The "German-Austrian URBAN-Network" organised a network conference on 14 and 15 October 2010 in Graz (AT). The event focused on the future of the European Cohesion Policy and integrated urban sprawl development.

Roma Inclusion – European Approaches

Due to the initiative "NRW Fit for Europe" North Rhine-Westphalian cities as well as the City of Duisburg can benefit from the good work in RegGov - especially the Roma issue is suitable for learning from.  

For that, a workshop was held in the City of Düsseldorf (DE) in October 2010. The North Rhine-Westphalian cities were invited to discuss the present situation and approaches of Roma integration together with European partners and NGOs, and also with representatives of the European Commission.

In September 2010, the handbook “Socially Integrative City in North Rhine-Westphalia – getting deprived urban areas back on track” has been released by the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).

All four Reports of the second meetings of Thematic Clusters are elaborated and available for download.

The Lead Partner of the RegGov project, the City of Duisburg, has started a second reprogramming procedure in August 2010.

After the first half of 2010, the four working groups within the RegGov Network held their respective second meetings in Poland, Romania, Hungary and Italy.

RegGov Partners represented the network at the annual “Regions for Economic Change” Conference which took place in Brussels on 20 and 21 May 2010.

The German RegGov Lead Partner, the City of Duisburg, was represented at the second "German-speaking URBACT Days" in Wien (Austria) on 6 and 7 May 2010 by Brigitte Grandt and Martin Linne, director of the department for urban development and project management of the City of Duisburg.

The documentation of the Extraordinary Partner Meeting held in Duisburg on 22 and 23 February 2010 is now available in the Outputs section for download.

The Lead Partner, the City of Duisburg, has published an article of the RegGov project in the Parliament Magazine on the 22nd of February 2010.

The RegGov project has published its second newsletter in December 2009.

The North Rhine-Westphalian Managing Authority (Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Building, Housing and Transport) and the city network 'Socially Integrative City' have jointly created the project called 'NRW Fit for Europe' in order to focus the cities' discussion on European topics.

The first issue of the RegGov Newsletter has been published in November 2009. This initial newsletter of the RegGov Network informs on the current state of the project - the latest news, results and next steps of the project. The newsletter shall support the communication, information and exchange between the partner cities involved in the network as well as beyond that in a wider context.

One of the partner cities, the City of Belovo, has unfortunately left the RegGov network. The municipality of Belovo has decided to withdraw from the network. The dropping-out date was the 21 August 2009.

The City of Duisburg as the Lead Partner has officially represented the RegGov Network at the URBACT Annual Conference organised one day after the EUROCITIES Annual Conference, in Stockholm on November 25.

The "German-Austrian URBAN-Network" organised a Network-Conference on 17 and 18 September 2009 in Duisburg, Germany. The event focused on creating consistency in integrated neighbourhood development and the elaboration of strategies to guarantee the projects' sustainability.

In order to strengthen the visual identity of the RegGov project when it comes to public presentations of the network at local, national and European level, the network has chosen one photograph and a corresponding colour which represent the project’s topic.

At the end of May and during the month of June 2009, the four Working Groups within the RegGov Network held their respective Kick-Off meetings in Greece, Hungary and Germany.

The German RegGov Lead Partner, the City of Duisburg, was represented at the German National Meeting of URBACT Local Support Groups in Bonn by Karen Wojciechowski from the Development Agency Duisburg (EG DU).

The RegGov Lead Partner Duisburg and its Managing Authority both participated in the URBACT Open Event on “Disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the crisis: How can they contribute to the recovery?” The Conference has been organised by the URBACT Secretariat at the day following the Final Conference of the URBAMECO Network in Lyon.

In order to focus the cities’ discussion on European topics, the North Rhine-Westphalian Managing Authority (Ministry of Building and Transport), and the City-Network ‘Socially Integrative City’ jointly created a new project called ‘NRW Fit for Europe’.

ThePolish ULSG Seminar took place in Warsaw on the 10th of March 2009. The RegGov partner city Ruda Śląska was represented by Ms Joanna Smala from the Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts. 

A wide range of RegGov partners participated in the 2009 annual 'Regions for Economic Change' Conference which took place in Brussels on 16 and 17 February 2009. 

The URBACT programme's Annual Conference 2008 was held in Montpellier from November 30 to December 2. In addition to an information desk in the Mail Hall, RegGov presented the network and its objectives in a workshop session and actively participated in a training session on the creation of Local Support Groups.

On Friday, 21st of November 2008, the RegGov Network was approved by the URBACT Monitoring Committee for its continuation with the Implementation Phase which will last for 36 months, until May 2011.

What is the state-of-the-art in the field of good governance in integrated neighbourhood development? What is the situation in each RegGov partner city and region? The RegGov project has just completed its first project phase and published its first project output: The RegGov baseline Study!

Just in time before the final deadline, on Tuesday 21 October 2008, the RegGov Lead Partner submitted the network’s Final Application together with all related documents to the URBACT-Secretariat.

The Thematic Cluster 1 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'New Forms of Regional Co-operation in Integrated Neighbourhood Regeneration’ held its third and last meeting on 31 January and 1 February 2011 in Halandri (Greece).

The Thematic Cluster 4 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'The Function of City-Wide Monitoring Systems for the Development in Urban Neighbourhoods' held its third and last meeting on 17 and 18 January 2011 in Nijmegen (Netherlands).

The Thematic Cluster 2 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'The Involvement of Private Sector and Community Representatives in Efficient Governance Models for the Regeneration of Deprived Urban Neighbourhoods' held its third and last meeting on 9 and 10 December 2010 in Södertälje (Sweden).

The Thematic Cluster 3 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'Integration of Roma population and other deprived groups into the social, cultural and economic life of their cities' held its third and last meeting on 15 and 16 November 2010 in Dortmund (Germany).

The 3rd Thematic Seminar of the RegGov network was organised as a three-days transnational meeting by the two cities of Satu Mare (Romania) and Nyiregyhaza (Hungary) from 25-27 October 2010.

The Thematic Cluster 4 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'The Development of City-Wide Monitoring Systems for the Development in Urban Neighbourhoods' held its second meeting on 29 and 30 June 2010 in Siracusa (Italy).

The Thematic Cluster 3 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'Integration of Roma population and other deprived groups into the social, cultural and economic life of their cities' held its second meeting on 17 and 18 May 2010 in Köbanya (Budapest, Hungary).

The Thematic Cluster 2 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'The Involvement of Private Sector and Community Representatives in Efficient Governance Models for the Regeneration of Deprived Urban Neighbourhoods' held its second meeting on 26 and 27 April 2010 in Satu Mare (Romania).

The Thematic Cluster 1 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'New Forms of Regional Co-operation in Integrated Neighbourhood Regeneration’ held its second meeting on 10 and 11 May 2010 in Ruda Slaska (Poland).

Due to some fundamental decisions and changes within the RegGov project, the Lead Partner of the RegGov network invited all partner cities and associated Managing Authorities to an Extraordinary Partner Meeting held in Duisburg (Germany) on 22 and 23 February 2010.

On 9 and 10 November 2009, the 2nd Thematic Seminar was held in Nijmegen (Netherlands), involving all partner cities of the network as well as their Managing Authorities and a representative from the European Commission. 

On 5 and 6 October 2009, the Joint Seminar for Managing Authorities and the European Commission was held in Budapest (Hungary). RegGov Partner City Kőbánya prepared all organisational details supported by the Hungarian Ministry for National Development and Economy.

The Thematic Cluster 1 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'New Forms of Regional Co-operation in Integrated Neighbourhood Development' held its first meeting on 25 and 26 June 2009 in Halandri (Greece).

The Thematic Cluster 2 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'The Involvement of Private Sector and Community Representatives in Efficient Governance Models for the Regeneration of Deprived Urban Neighbourhoods' held its first meeting on 22 and 23 June 2009 in Kőbánya (Hungary).

The Thematic Cluster 3 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'Integration of ROMA-population into the social, cultural and economic life of their cities' held its first meeting on 11 and 12 June 2009 in Nyíregyháza (Hungary).

The Thematic Cluster 4 of the RegGov Network dealing with 'The Development of City-Wide Monitoring Systems for the Development in Urban Neighbourhoods' held its first meeting on 28 and 29 May 2009 in Duisburg (Germany). 

On 22 and 23 January, the RegGov-Network started its Implementation Phase with the 1st Thematic Seminar in Halandri (Greece).

The project was still in its Development Phase when on 19 September 2008 the Second Partner Meeting took place in Düsseldorf (Germany).

On 9 and 10 June 2008, the RegGov Network held its First Partner Meeting in Södertälje (Sweden). The Seminar focused on the presentation of the 9 Partner Cities coming from 8 European countries.
