Our Project

Please note that this projet ended after the Development Phase.

Sha.Ke is a network of EU Cities, Regions, Universities, working together on the topic of renovation and revitalisation of public spaces in deprived urban areas.

The Sha.Ke working group aims at involving several actors (Cities, Regions, Universities, local stakeholders) in fostering experiences of renovation and revitalisation of public spaces in deprived urban areas. This will be based on shared interpretations of experiences developed within attempts to mainstream what learnt during the implementation of EU programmes.

Topic

Challenges

In analysing cases of renovation and revitalisation of public spaces in deprived urban areas and areas at risk of deprivation the Sha.Ke working group will focus on the effective role of public spaces as a tool to re-scale deprived areas within the city as a whole

Breaking barriers between different forms of knowledge (academic, organisational, ordinary, local...) in order to improve local action effectiveness is a major aim of the Sha.Ke working group.

Key point of focus

The role played by different actors (policy-makers, local associations, inhabitans), including also those who usually are not included in integrated urban regeneration programmes will be taken into account.
