Open European Helsinki 2011, temporary architecture in Hernesaari

This summer the Open Europeans 2011 European Sailing Championships was held at Hernesaari. This major event attracted up to tens of thousand spectators and competitors to Hernesaari waterfront. Event, free to public, it was a major kick-off event for Hernesaari developments.

CTUR local dissemination of the outputs of the project. The CTUR LAP Exhibition will be held in Rostock to present the work done in three year with the URBACT II Thematic Network CTUR. Nicht die großen Pötte, die am Passagierkai anlegen – kleinere Schiffe, deren Gäste nicht nur einen Ausstieg in Richtung Berlin suchen, sondern welche die kleineren Städte entlang der Ostsee von Lübeck bis Ystad erkunden wollen.

One of the activities in the framework of the URBACT CTUR Project is to involve the schools of the city and their 1000 pupils. The President of the Port Authority of Naples, Luciano Dassatti, met 1000 students from  junior schools to talk about the sea and the ports.

The traineeship organized by University of Naples Federico II (ULSG member) on "URBACT II, the cruise tourism from the port to the city, a local development project for the lower city of Naples ", closed its works.

The second issue of CTUR citynews is now available.

Some 86 cruise ships will sail into Dublin this year, giving the city a potential EUR 55 million boost, it was revealed today.

The Dublin seminar, the 4th CTUR thematic seminar, on ‘Physical and environmental components: Cruise facilities & Transport connections’ took place on December 10-11 2009.

Trieste, which is a project partners in the CTUR network, will host the CTUR meeting "Second thematic conference on regeneration and environmental concerns" on 28th and 29th September 2009.
