The Greater Dunkirk Council, consisting of 18 towns that stretch from Belgian border to Calais region, was created in 1969. Its current  president is  Michel Delebarre.

The Greater Dunkirk district is an industrial and seaport conurbation, marked by the establishment of an internationally important iron and steel centre in the 1960s. In the 2000’s, Dunkirk is one of the first energy platforms in Europe, due to its manufacturing infrastructures and to industrial needs.

A strategic geographical situation in the core of the Channel District within range of 5 Europeans capitals: London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Luxembourg.

Dr.-Ing. Uwe Ferber provides relevant experience on the content and skills on the management of international working groups on brownfields.

For example, he is technical co-ordinator for the Management autority in the EU-ERDF Objective I Brownfield program in Saxony in 2007 - 2013 for local projects. He assists the State Ministry in inter-ministerial coordination and policy development. He is also member of the scientific coordination of the CABERNET network. For more informations, see the CV
