BHC III Thematic Report

The report underlines the importance of the interaction and cooperation between Cities and Managing Authorities.

The author, Mr Marco Santangelo Lead Expert of the BHC Project, wishes to foster the reflection among partners on these issues, and in order to do so he presents the results of the Watson Report on health and SF in the current programming period (a report commissioned by DG SANCO) and some ideas on place-based interventions suggested by Fabrizio Barca in his report commissioned by DG REGIO.

The Report contains also a reflection on the last BHC exchange meeting, which has been held in Lecce; it was focused on Urban Planning and Environmental Sustainability. Results from this highly participated exchange are presented in the Annex to the Report.

BHC II Thematic Report

Healthy Sustainable Lifestyles

The document is not only a sum-up of the activities carried on  within the Project framework; it talks about the "journey" undertaken by each partner towards the others, with the aim of developing best practices and finding new solutions to common problems. Besides the two Annexes attached to the report will give, to the reader, a clear idea of the outcomes of the "Exchanges" held in Barnsley (July 2010) and Madrid (December 2010).

BHC I Thematic Report

Indicators and Criteria for a Healthy Sustainable Urban Development

This report represents the first concrete outcome of our network following the transnational workshop that took place from 8-9 June 2009 in Lodz, Poland.  The network’s thematic expert has outlined the process of definition of indicators related to health and quality of life in cities and has synthesized the main findings of the Łódź workshop. Besides, a glossary has been attached as annex, to further clarify the contents of the toolkit that represents the main output of the meeting.

Baseline Study

The Building Healthy Communities project proposes to establish a thematic network which aims to capitalize knowledge and practice on urban factors influencing health.

The Project's Baseline study has been elaborated by Marco SANTANGELO, the BHC Lead Expert and consists of the following three chapters:

          I.          Health and Quality of Life: A State of the Art: An overview of the current state of health and quality of life in European cities.

II.          The Partner Cities: An analysis of the partner cities.

III.         Health and Quality of Life in EU Cities: A Synthesis: intends to demonstrate the added value of the Building Healthy Communities project for the partners and more generally for health in Europe
