Our Project
Health is important for the wellbeing of individuals and society, but a healthy population is also a prerequisite for economic productivity and prosperity. The Lisbon strategy underlines the importance of health as a key factor for economic growth. However there is a limited awareness of the contributions that a "healthy" urban policy can make to tackle challenges in health.
The Building Healthy Communities (BHC) Thematic Network consists of a partnership of 10 cities from seven EU member states who will be working together over the next 30 months in order to capitalise knowledge and practices on urban factors influencing health and to create opportunities for cities to shape and implement healthy policies for their citizens.
TOPIC
Challenges
The main objective of Building healthy Communities is to establish a network of cities in at least 6 different member states participating in a transnational exchange programme for transfer of policy, planning and practice on urban health policies and to provide capacity building for professional development in the field of urban health.
