ISN seeks to address the division between the information rich and information poor by building upon the experience of local project partners through establishing exchanges of partner cities and their experiences of using technology to promote social inclusion and cohesion. The network is made up of partners from 13 european cities lead by Manchester, UK.
The emergence of the information society has added new complexities and opportunities to the process of urban regeneration. On the one hand adding to the speed and scale of change, while on the other hand providing new tools and processes which can help to mitigate the impact of that change. Cities across the world face similar challenges in terms of finding coherent and effective policies and strategies that will support and sustain economic growth and connect the opportunities created by economic growth with the needs of their citizens. Technology is an essential prerequisite for tackling social exclusion and economic restructuring.
