In the meeting with the IPSS (Particular Institutions of Social Solidarity), there were present the representatives of the “ASMAL”, “Existir”, Loulé Health Center and Operational Unit of Management of Social Housing of the Local Authority, who presented some proposals.

In the case of “ASMAL”, the theatre and dance projects that its users have performed in kindergartens and nursing homes can be also replicated in urban area, especially in places where exclusion is more significant. With the same emphasis, “Existir” has shown interest in bringing the most diverse activities inserted in its annual programme to these areas, namely martial arts and adapted physical activities or yoga of laughter.

The heads of the Community Care Unit of the Loulé Health Centre spoke about participating in what was one of the first tests of the Vital Cities project - “Agosto Ativo” (Active August) – performing open lessons of Postural Hygiene and Drop Prevention. This programme will be modified this year, during the Easter and summer periods.

This is the example of "O Ténis é Vida" (Tennis is Life), through which the Loulé Tennis Club brings people the importance of sports; The " Passeios Domingueiros" (Walks on Sundays), promoted by the BTT Club with the purpose of fomenting the interaction for the practice of this sport; The informal running organized by the association "Let's Go Run"; Or the 3x3 games held by the Basket Club "Tubarões".

On this occasion, the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Loulé, Hugo Nunes, gave the example of two interventions framed in the philosophy of the "Vital Cities" and that will start this year: in Quarteira, in the neighbourhoods of Abelheira and Amendoeira, in Loulé, the requalification next to the Stadium, in the municipal neighbourhood.

After these meetings, the team from Loulé of the "Vital Cities" coordinated by Professor Tiago Guadalupe will meet with the schools and parish councils of our municipality.

This project is funded by the Community Programme URBACT, a European programme for learning and exchange of experiences in promoting sustainable urban development. "Vital Cities" is a project that seeks to combat social exclusion by improving spaces in residential areas using power and the common language of sport by innovative urban actions, diverse physical equipment and the provision of better organized and planned services to respond to the needs of the community.
