B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
I am an urban geographer (city development and energy geography as main topics) with an 20 year municipal background. I have worked as head of the energy department (City of Freiburg) and head of waste management (City of Freiburg and County Bad Duerkheim) in Germany. I was responsible for the implemenation of Freiburg´s Sustainable Energy Action Plan, coordination of stakeholder processes and especially in the integration of energy aspects in city planning (building standards, energy conception etc.) in close cooperation with the city planners. In the fields of waste management I was representing the City and the County in the regional waste management cooperation processes. Since 2014 I am working as a freelance consultant nationally and internationally in project development and management regarding sustainable city development (Evaluation of SCC1 for EU, Establishment of Energy Energies, SEAPs and Energy Management in Ukraine, Germany and China, Moderation of Participatory conferences and workshops in the fields of energy.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
Already when working for the City of Freiburg I was involved in several transnational projects (city-networks and technical development): In the Network of Energy Efficient Cities in South-East-Europe supporting 5 capital cities in developing their SEAP strategies and implementation of structures and processes ; In my function as Head of the Energy Department I was assigned as contact person for energy networks (energy-cities, climate alliance and iclei), participating in several international projects and exchange. As freelancer and in cooperatioin with the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit" I am working on project development and implementation in countries like Urkaine and China to integrate energy aspects into overall development strategies, build up Energy Agencies and energy management and prepare proposals to EU programmes (Horizon 2020). I have shared experiences as well on lecture tours to USA (Project Post Carbon Cities of Tormorrow) and Canada (Renewable Cities Global Learning Forum).
B.3. Proficiency in English:
My proficiency to communicate fluently in English is proven by (see also CV): International project mangement with English as main communication language (oral and minutes, reports), (manuscript-free) presentations at workshops and conferences (Global Learning Forum Vancouver 2017; Urban Futures 2018) Moderation of workshops and conferences in English (e.g. 2017 Twins Conference Ruhr - Cities in Climate Change) Refreshing course at ParkhouseTraining 2016

Expertise for the design and delivery of transnational exchange and learning activities:

C.3.1. Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-English speakers:
Projects: Energy Agencies in Ukraine - Municipal Energy Management - Project development for SEAP in China - Energy Policy in Freiburg Especially to make clear, how different parts of a project are important and related to the overall process whiteboard drawings, Flipcharts or picture-orientated presentations are supportive. I have added a few to this application. May I add, that it is not the concrete method or the means (powerpoint, PREZI) that brings success. It is always the combination of method and personal empathetic explanation, adapted to the audience that leads to a succesful learning. This means as well flexibility to change strategy during a presentation. I have seen some really nice PREZI presentations and confused audiences afterwords. Simple but not too simple, complex but not too complicated and ambious could be a kind of golden rule.
C.3.2. Ability to draw out, support the verbalization and documentation of knowledge and practice from participants:
1. Workshop to integrate energy efficiency in city planning: Integrated City Development in municipalities in Ukraine (see photo-documents that show how participants practically developed ideas) 2. IGSI - India (see photo-document of concrete prototypes) I will provide these photos in a seperate folder via WeTransfer.
C.3.3. Ability to capture learning for participants to take away:
See 3.2. and addtional attached documents from projects: 1. Energy Agencies in Ukraine - Guidebook http://eeau.org.ua/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/eea_br_ukr_web.pdf http://eeau.org.ua/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/eea_broshure_web_en.pdf
