Organic Food Territories European Club 1st Meeting
The Organic Food Territories European Club was founded in January 2018 in Mouans-Sartoux, a city in South France that was awarded the URBACT Good Practice label and is now leading the URBACT Transfer Network BioCanteens. The Club will hold its first meeting in Paris (FR) on 6 and 7 November.
The Club aims to provide a platform for local authorities across Europe to discuss and exchange on best practices dealing with sustainable collective catering systems and sustainable local food policies and practices.
"It is open to all European cities willing to commit to make sustainable food a reality at local level", says Gilles Pérole, Deputy Mayor of Mouans-Sartoux and President of Un Plus Bio, the organiser of the meeting.
The first morning will be dedicated to members' presentations of their organic and local food policy ambitions. It will then be dealing with the creation of a food exception in the Public Procurement Code and will touch upon other future projects.
On the second day, participants will have the opportunity to hear the conclusions of the report by the French Observatory of Organic and Sustainable Collective Catering. This session will be followed by a round table discussion dedicated to vegetable alternatives in canteens. Lunch will be provided by Paris City hall before the Victoires des cantines rebelles’ awards ceremony in the afternoon.
