Have you already been involved in an URBACT network?
The Association of Municipalities and Counties of the Central Subregion in the Silesia Voivodship in Poland was established in 2013 with the aim to coordinate the Integrated Territorial Investment Instrument for this subregion in the Voivodship. The Association was established by 81 local authorities (73 municipalities and 8 counties). The area of the Subregion covers 5 577 km2, counts 2,8 mln inhabitants and is among the most industrialized areas in Central Europe. Representatives of around 5 municipalities and counties from the metropolitan area (Integrated Territorial Investment Instrument) will participate in URBACT.
We are also planning to raise funds from the EC-LIFE programme to create the platform mentioned above. The platform will take the following form: an integrated ecosystem map platform will be developed and will allow to carry out activities to protect biodiversity and reduce the impact of urban heat islands which has a major impact on climate change. The maps developed within the project will be integrated with the spatial information systems of the participating communes and a separate tool for the presentation of maps will be created.
