  • GreenPlace in Quarto d’Altino: Building a Green and Smart Hub of Archaeology, Nature and Community

A European project for greener and more participatory cities

GreenPlace is a European project under the URBACT programme, involving cities committed to developing more sustainable, inclusive, and participatory local policies, starting from one key element: the regeneration of green public spaces. Quarto d’Altino is taking part in GreenPlace with an ambitious yet deeply grounded challenge — to bring new life to the historic village of Altino and reconnect it to its urban, rural, and lagoon surroundings through an integrated, green, and smart development model.
Through the project Green & Smart Altinum Hub, the Municipality aims to transform Altino into a multifunctional hub where culture, nature, soft mobility, and social innovation converge to create new opportunities for residents, visitors, and local businesses.

How to move a crowd: a mobility cookbook for modest cities with big festivals (by Petr Schiller and Ameba Production team)

Since 2007, the four-day Rock for People festival has been held in Hradec Králové (Czech Republic), with attendance steadily increasing each year. However, last year the city hosted a premiere event that welcomed the same number of visitors in just one day. The key to success was communication and proper coordination among the organizational team’s various components. This article offers a retrospective look at how the transportation situation was managed before, during, and after the events that took place last year at Park 360. In addition to the festival, two concerts by global megastar Ed Sheeran brought nearly 100,000 people to the city—roughly equivalent to its entire population. Yet, everything went smoothly, and the city's regular traffic was not disrupted.

These sessions have served as a valuable forum for co-creating IAP (Integrated Action Plans) visions and objectives and defining the Action Tables together with the local stakeholders. ULGs seek to drive meaningful progress that aligns with the overarching objectives of the network while addressing the unique challenges and opportunities within their respective cities.
