TechDiversity Unveils Integrated Approach to Urban Development and Tech Talent

On the 6th and 7th of March, the 2nd Transnational Network Meeting of "TechDiversity – Diversity and Inclusion in Knowledge-based Digital and Tech Ecosystems" took place in Amarante, Portugal.

Network Methodology & Roadmap

The network partners had the opportunity to delve into the core elements of the URBACT Network Methodology & Roadmap, crucial for the development of their Integrated Action Plan. TechDiversity partnership can now confidently navigate the process of crafting an Integrated Action Plan that is not only aligned with URBACT's strategic framework but also tailored to address the unique challenges and opportunities within their local contexts. This experience not only enhances the capacity of partner cities, but also strengthens the collective efforts of the TechDiversity APN in promoting diversity, innovation, and inclusivity in urban environments.

Tech Talent Policy Seminar

TechDiversity partners were introduced to essential policy instruments, including the Equality Act 2010 EU and the Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021-2027. This policy framework serves as invaluable guides in the pursuit of fostering diversity and inclusion within urban development initiatives. By familiarizing themselves with the provisions outlined in the Equality Act 2010 EU, partners gained insights into legal mechanisms designed to ensure equality and non-discrimination across various domains of the urban environment.

Similarly, the Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021-2027 provides a strategic roadmap for promoting social cohesion and addressing the multifunctional challenges of integration in diverse urban communities. By taking into account this policy framework, TechDiversity is better equipped to design and implement inclusive policies and practices that promote equitable access to opportunities and services for all residents, thereby contributing to the overarching goals of sustainable urban development within the URBACT Network.

Simultaneously, the session on Tech Talent served as a dynamic platform for showcasing local good practices and entrepreneurship within the framework of technology, diversity, and innovation. Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, partners gained valuable insights into the unique initiatives that are driving Amarante's tech ecosystem. This session underscored the significant role of local stakeholders in driving forward-thinking urban development and the promotion of technological talent.

Network partners were also introduced to the definition of the Integrated Urban Development. Emphasis was placed on understanding integration in URBACT for the efficient development of the Integrated Action Plan which is the most significant expected result of the Network. This comprehensive understanding of integration is harmonized with the network's commitment to promoting inclusive, resilient and sustainable urban communities.

Strengthening Partnership and Knowledge Exchange

During the meeting, network partners engaged in a round table discussion that provided a comprehensive overview of the TechDiversity TNMs subthemes, the following TechDiversity local Testing Actions, and the upcoming bi or tri-lateral web meetings between groups of partners. This collaborative dialogue served as an opportunity for partners to share insights, exchange perspectives, and align their TechDiversity vision around these key components of the network. Looking ahead, the upcoming bi or tri-lateral web meetings underscored the ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among partners, ensuring that efforts are effectively coordinated and aligned towards achieving the shared objectives of the network.

Next Steps

During the process of the two - day meeting, partners gained valuable clarity and directions, setting the stage for the engagement and progress within the TechDiversity APN next steps.
