    From Vision to Transformative Actions for the SDGs: co-creation of integrated actions in Manresa

    Around one hour and a half from Barcelona by train, in a hilly area of the Bages county, is Manresa - a small-sized city with around 78 000 inhabitants - one of several partners of similar size in the Global Goals for Cities network. On 21 April, I had the chance to stop by and attend one of Manresa’s URBACT Local Group (ULG) meetings organised by the local coordination team. Here, I share a few highlights of how the ULG and the participatory process is helping to shape the priorities of the Manresa 2030 Agenda and the integrated action plan that is currently in the making.

  • RU:RBAN Transfer Network - Caen (FR)

    Urban gardeners in Caen (FR) had a busy summer!

    After several months of online meetings and communication via email, the members of Caen’s ULG (Urbact Local Group) finally met on 2nd July at the Arlette’s Gardens for what was to be a meeting with a very rich agenda: update on what is going on at European level in terms of urban agriculture, update on what is going at local level, on-going RU:RBAN actions…and what happens next – after RU:RBAN.

  • SDGs good food for all

    Public Policies & Governance for Territorial Food Systems

    The transition towards territorial food systems requires new public policies that consider innovative and effective formulas for participatory governance, among other facilitating elements. Food democracy impacts citizen empowerment when it comes to bringing together actors for this necessary action for change. The local perspective and the consolidation of participatory structures can be nurtured through networks such as those promoted by the URBACT Programme through Local Action Groups.

  • The 8th Transnational Meeting of SIBdev – View from our windows

    After the preparation for a new personal occasion in Kecskemét, Hungary, the SIBdev Family had to make a tough decision again and move the event online due to the deterioration of the Covid pandemic situation. However, this move did not prevent the participants from sharing something personal in addition to the professional content, starting with the view from their (home) office windows and continuing with so many different points of view.

  • Transnational meeting in Voru - Going hybrid for the first time in SIBdev Network’s history

    Between 14 and 16 September 2021 a long-awaited event for the SIBdev Network took place in Voru, Estonia and in the online space at the same time: the first hybrid transnational event in the partnership’s history. The meeting was the 5th since the launch of the 2nd phase of the project, following a series of online sessions that started with the Activation meeting on 8-10 September 2020.

  • SIBdev at the 19th European Week of Regions

    As a side event of the 19th European Week of Regions and Cities, SIBdev Network has organized an online info session on 12th October 2021, coordinated by its partner city Baia Mare. The aim of the event was to share knowledge on EU level about the concept of social investment bonds (SIBs) and to showcase two best practices from partner cities in two different areas of social policy: the SIB model for education and employment in Fundão, Portugal and the SIB for mitigating youth homelessness in Aarhus, Denmark.
