On 17 and 18 June 2026, partners from the URBACT RE:START Transfer Network gathered in Nyborg, Denmark, for the network’s second Transnational Meeting, dedicated to Place Branding and territorial attractiveness.
Over two days, the programme combined presentations, workshops, discussion sessions and study visits, giving participants a closer insight into Nyborg’s local context and an opportunity to reflect collectively on the factors that help make medium-sized cities more attractive places to live, study, work, visit and invest.
One of the main topics explored was Place Branding, understood as an approach that goes far beyond the creation of logos or visual identities. Building a place brand starts with understanding the identity of each place, what makes it distinctive, the vision it seeks to pursue for the future and how that vision can be reflected in the everyday experience of residents, visitors, businesses and local communities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore how the experience and good practices underpinning RE can be transferred and adapted to different territorial realities. This transfer process is at the heart of the network, enabling each partner to assess, test and adapt methods and solutions to the specific characteristics, challenges and opportunities of its territory.
The meeting in Nyborg therefore marked another important step in RE:START's shared journey. Partners are now moving into a new phase of work focused on adapting shared learning, engaging local stakeholders and developing approaches that can strengthen the identity, attractiveness and capacity of each territory to respond to future challenges.
