Mantova’s population decline began in the 1990s, with the last recorded count above 50,000 occurring in 1994. However, as of December 2024, the city registered 50,012 residents, with an additional 200 residency applications still being processed. In 2023 alone, Mantova welcomed 2,793 new residents, of which 64% were under 36 years old. This includes:
