Summary
Working with students at the University of Vienna Postgraduate Centre, many from smaller municipal administrations in Austria and Germany, inspired me to apply for this role. Collaborating with them gives me a deep insight into contemporary urban challenges and keeps me excited about new ideas for cities. I enjoy taking on new challenges, connecting ideas and people, finding good practices, and identifying small, realistic steps or pilot actions that help move long-term visions forward.
I am an architect and co-founder of the Slovenian urban design studio Prostorož, where for over 22 years I have been transforming overlooked public spaces, revitalizing brownfields, and involving citizens in shaping their surroundings. I also teach at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, sharing my experience and learning from the next generation of urban professionals.
I have collaborated in the URBACT Pioneers network, gaining experience in transnational exchange and learning activities. My long practice in smaller towns, peripheral areas, and degraded sites, combined with my teaching experience, gives me practical expertise and insight. I am a validated expert in urban design, social innovation, mobility, and participatory, integrated approaches to strategy and implementation.
