Summary
PhD with international distinction and Associate Professor at the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), where she also serves as Director of the Master in Environment and Bioclimatic Architecture (MAYAB).
Her work focuses on energy poverty from the perspective of the right to habitability and thermal comfort, bridging research, policy and local action. She has extensive experience leading and contributing to national and European projects, including COOLTORISE (Horizon 2020), the first European project to systematically address summer energy poverty; EPIU (Urban Innovative Actions – UIA), where integrated solutions to energy poverty —including summer conditions— were developed at urban, building and housing scales; and BUILDSPACE (Horizon Europe).
A key strength of her profile lies in the transferability and scaling‑up of knowledge on summer energy poverty, an emerging challenge linked to climate change. The work developed within EPIU and related projects has been transferred through the URBACT network EmPowerIngUs and has contributed to positioning summer energy poverty on the European policy agenda, supporting cities and institutions in recognising and addressing this growing urban vulnerability.
She has also acted as an expert for the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub of the European Commission, providing direct support to municipalities. Her profile combines strong academic expertise with hands‑on experience in participatory processes, capacity building and the translation of European strategies into locally adapted urban action.
