Summary
Urban planner and researcher with a strong European background in sustainable mobility, spatial justice, and walkability. I recently completed my PhD in Urban Planning at the University of Palermo, focusing on overcoming spatial and socio-cultural barriers to pedestrian accessibility through the frameworks of the 15-Minute City and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). My research combined GIS-based spatial analysis with social-psychological perspectives to understand mobility behaviours and promote inclusive, car-independent urban environments. I also completed a visiting PhD period at the University of Amsterdam (AISSR), where I explored non-infrastructural barriers to active mobility.
As a Mobility Expert in the URBACT IV Programme, I bring together academic depth, applied research, and policy-oriented experience to support cities in developing integrated and participatory mobility strategies aligned with EU sustainable urban development goals.
With prior collaborations involving GIS-based urban inequality indexes and soft-mobility action plans, I offer cities both conceptual clarity and practical frameworks to transition toward more liveable and accessible public spaces.
Fluent in English, Italian, and Turkish, and experienced in cross-cultural urban contexts, I am passionate about helping European cities co-create place-based, equitable, and people-centred mobility transformations.
