Summary

As an experienced manager, creative facilitator-innovator, and strategic advisor my contribution centers on:

- translating human rights and SDG inspiration into local policies
- embedding future and scenario thinking in daily practices and policymaking
- (re)thinking the role of culture in urban transformation
- (joined-up) governance and effective integrated approaches
- developing bottom-up / participatory monitoring to make data collection more meaningful

For over 35 years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the transformation and strategic development of the city of Utrecht through a wide array of projects and programs. From shaping long-term urban visions to implementing tangible initiatives in inclusion and sustainability, my work has consistently bridged policy, research and practice. Collaborating with networks of colleagues, scholars, and politicians across numerous European cities has enabled me to learn about the potential of mutual learning from shared challenges and local distinctions.

In the final decade of my career, I am excited to offer my energy and expertise also to other cities, helping them navigate challenges, embrace innovation, and build dynamic, future-ready urban strategies and imaginaries.

Since 2023, I have been actively involved in the URBACT Programme as the Leadpartner/Coordinator of the WELDI project, which is dedicated to enhancing refugee reception systems through a human rights-based approach.
