Lucia Vecchi

I am an Architect (Università di Firenze, 2003) with a Master in Landscape Architecture (UPC Barcelona, 2007). With two decades of experience in the built environment, I led large-scale social and environmental restoration projects at the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), specifically focusing on the regeneration of peri-urban river systems. With GMLVpaisaje office I developed landscape projects across both public and private sectors. This practical expertise is complemented by my academic contributions as a lecturer in the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and at the ELISAVA School of Design. I have a deep understanding of how to translate complex urban themes into actionable knowledge for city practitioners, by focusing on:

• Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) & Climate action: researching and designing green infrastructures that build urban resilience against heat and flooding (SUDS, Rain Gardens, Green Roofs, etc).
• Carbon Sequestration & Carbon Farming: providing conceptual and technical insights on transforming territorial management into a measurable tool for decarbonization.
• ESG & Strategic Consultancy: integrating ESG standards into strategic urban planning, ensuring that large-scale territorial transformations are bankable, and rooted in long-term environmental resilience.

My previous contributions for URBACT III programme as an Ad-Hoc expert include:

• Co-author of the report “Street Greening for Health and Wellbeing Outcomes” for the Health&Greenspace Network.
• Keynote speaker for the Health&Greenspace Network at the Tartu Meeting (March 2022), where I facilitated the exchange of strategic insights on how greening urban corridors directly impacts public health and climate resilience.
