Summary

  • I am an Assistant Professor of Urban Development & Planning Policy and an international urban practitioner, teaching and researching urban planning with a strong focus on the European context.
  • Since 2005, I have supported more than 100 European cities and regions in promoting Sustainable Urban Development (SUD) — as a freelance urban planner, researcher, and coordinator of EU-funded projects. My expertise lies in helping cities design integrated strategies, build capacities, and implement innovative solutions that respond to today’s pressing urban challenges. A map of the cities is in my personal website.
  • My recent work in EU-funded projects spans the impact of remote work on European cities (R-Map), smart and sustainable cities in service of citizen needs (RRI2SCALE), and the development of Citizen Science Hubs to meaningfully and responsibly engage citizens in science (INCENTIVE). Other projects I have worked as a coordinator and project manager include Pop-Machina (for circular economy and urban regeneration), ROBIN (for circular regional bioeconomy with a territorial approach), Cities-4-People (for community-driven sustainable urban mobility) and CIPTEC (for collective intelligence in urban public transport).
  • Since 2015, I have also provided technical assistance to the European Commission and other agencies, evaluating nearly 200 proposals, supporting funded projects, and helping shape urban and regional policies and programmes.
  • My multidisciplinary background (architect/urban planner, MBA, PhD in urban innovation strategies) enables me to understand complex city realities, guide participatory processes, and connect digital, social, economic, and spatial dimensions of urban development.
  • My work style is collaborative, creative, and hands-on. I enjoy working with local authorities, practitioners, and fellow experts to turn urban challenges into opportunities.
