Summary
I am a local democracy and public governance specialist with nearly 20 years of experience helping cities bridge the gap between local administrations and their citizens. Recently validated as an URBACT Lead Expert and certified by the Council of Europe as a Lead Facilitator for Citizens' Assemblies, I focus on transforming local governance from top-down administration into co-creative, citizen-driven ecosystems.
My work sits at the intersection of practical municipal reform and rigorous political science. As a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations and an active advisor to organizations like the CoE, USAID, and SDC, I help cities design open, transparent, and resilient local policies.
How I support URBACT Networks & Municipalities:
- Deliberative Democracy & Citizens’ Assemblies: Using CoE standards, I guide cities in designing and facilitating representative deliberative panels, managing high-conflict community dialogues, and building sustainable civic participation frameworks.
- Fostering Social Inclusion & Equity: I have extensive experience designing local action plans and integration strategies for highly marginalized and non-majority communities, ensuring that municipal planning is structurally inclusive and equitable.
- Translating Strategy to Action: Having led municipal performance assessments and supported dozens of cities in drafting regulations and integrated annual budgets, I ensure that participatory visions are backed by realistic municipal finance and solid regulatory frameworks.
- Transnational Facilitation & Mentoring: As a mentor for EUROCITIES (Nets4Dem) and Extituto de Política Abierta, I leverage frameworks like the Participation Playbook to help local leaders worldwide turn ideas into structured, actionable local plans.
