Edited on 05/06/2026

Last week on the 27th and the 28th of May, the SPARK partners gathered in Roeselare for two productive days of learning, exchange and collaboration focused on the strategic use of public procurement.

Hosted by the City of Roeselare, the meeting provided an opportunity to explore local procurement practices, discuss the transferability of Kavala’s good practice, and reflect on how procurement can contribute to more sustainable, inclusive and resilient cities.

Highlights included:

  • A deep dive into Roeselare’s procurement approach, including challenges, stakeholders and solutions
  • Workshops on transferability and partner roadmaps
  • Discussions on socially inclusive procurement and supplier engagement
  • Urban Local Group (ULG) capacity-building activities
  • Project management sessions on communication and financial reporting
  • A tour to the City Hall and the iconic Rodenbach Brewery

A big thank you to the City of Roeselare for the warm welcome and excellent organization, and to all partners for their active participation and valuable contributions.

Together, we continue working towards smarter and more strategic public procurement across Europe.
