Edited on 12/02/2025

The CITISENSE project, led by the Municipality of Piraeus, officially launched with a two-day kick-off meeting in Paris from October 1st to 2nd, 2024.

Representatives from partner cities including Naples, Liepaja, Fót, Geel, and Manresa gathered to discuss the project’s goals and the transfer of urban security practices from the successful BeSecure-FeelSecure (BSFS) project.

As one of Greece’s most historic and vibrant port cities, Piraeus has always played a crucial role in the country’s development. Today, the city continues to evolve, addressing modern challenges such as urban security. By investing in safety measures and revitalizing its public spaces, Piraeus is committed to ensuring a high quality of life for its residents, while creating an environment where both citizens and visitors can feel secure and thrive.

During the meeting, the Municipality of Piraeus presented the BSFS project’s achievements, sharing best practices that will now be adapted by other partner cities. Participants also introduced the current state of urban safety in their cities and began mapping out the first steps of implementation for the coming six months.

The project will follow the URBACT methodology and utilize its tools to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across the network.
