Since 2021, the Krakow City Development Agency (KCDA) has owned a 9-hectare area, located in the very center of Krakow (called Wesoła), encompassing a dozen or so buildings, mostly historic. Until recently, this area was used by a hospital; currently, work is underway to develop it into a creative district, intended for artistic and educational activities, with a strong component of leisure and recreation surrounded by greenery.
KCDA's activities are related to both finding new uses for the former hospital buildings and revitalizing the area. This process is currently underway, based on the Masterplan (available at www.armk.pl/masterplan). The scale of the challenges facing Wesoła is significant, encompassing renovation and modernization of buildings, the construction of new facilities and smaller-scale projects. These include, for example, the aesthetic enhancement of public spaces, the redesign of greenery, the construction of pedestrian and bicycle paths and stormwater management (by blue and green infrastructure). In the context of the recruitment process, the task of developing a wayfinding system within the district, facilitating orientation and meeting the requirements of the KCDA, is particularly important.
KCDA will establish partnerships with institutions whose ideas alignwith the activities planned for implementation in Wesoła.
