Looking for Project Partners
Grand Chambéry is an urban community bringing together 38 municipalities and 140,000 inhabitants. Grand Chambéry is located on the border with the Alps, in the heart of the Alpine valley. It is part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Grand Chambéry has recently adopted a Territorial Climate Plan for the period 2026–2031, addressed to all local stakeholders: residents, associations, businesses, tourists, municipalities, resource managers, and managers of natural, agricultural, and forest areas.
The plan includes 16 actions structured around four operational axes:
Better mobility
Better production and consumption
Better use of buildings and urban spaces
Better protection and enhancement of resources
In addition, a fifth axis, “More engaged!”, acts as the driving force of the plan, ensuring coherence and connection between all actions.
Through this URBACT proposal, we aim to collaborate with European partners on the implementation of three key actions under this “More engaged!” axis:
Adapting the territory to climate change:
Especially in a mountain context, as the Alps are experiencing the highest temperature increase in the Northern Hemisphere. The objective is to organise climate adaptation, implement innovative and concrete solutions to strengthen resilience and protect citizens, progressively integrate 2050 climate scenarios into all local projects and services, develop a culture of risk related to increasing climate hazards, and support municipalities in deploying adaptation solutions.Ensuring stakeholder commitment to the Climate Plan:
In particular by introducing green budgeting/accounting and supporting other stakeholders in adopting this approach, while also innovating in long-term stakeholder engagement methods and ensuring a socially fair and inclusive transition for all residents.Supporting behavioural change among citizens and stakeholders:
Especially by increasing young people’s access to nature, scaling up a citizen engagement model successfully implemented over the past four years (“Climate Citizens Club”), which we are ready to share with partners, and strengthening grassroots associations in their ability to promote energy sobriety.
We would preferably join an URBACT network as a partner and are therefore looking for a Lead Partner. However, we remain open to discussing different consortium configurations.
