Many cities still face a common challenge: parts of their urban and peri-urban areas are not fully served by public sewerage systems, while households rely on individual wastewater solutions that are poorly recorded, weakly monitored and difficult to manage. This creates risks for groundwater, soil, public health and environmental compliance.

We are looking to build an URBACT Action Network focused on practical and transferable solutions for wastewater management beyond the sewer network. The network would explore how cities can improve local evidence and GIS-based mapping, assess environmental risks, pilot sanitation services, strengthen local governance and engage citizens through information and compliance-oriented approaches.

Ungheni is interested in joining such a network as an active project partner and is looking for both a Lead Partner and relevant cities willing to shape a focused, action-oriented consortium on this topic.
