From 25 to 27 August, TactiCity took part in the URBACT University in Cork, organised by the URBACT Secretariat and focused on stakeholder engagement and participation of Good Practice transfer.
Over the three days, plenary sessions, Hub Sessions, network sessions and City Visits offered different opportunities to exchange with other European networks and explore experiences from different cities.
One of the highlights was the City of Play session and visit, where we could see first-hand how play can be used to activate public spaces and encourage interaction.
The Hub Sessions also gave TactiCity the chance to discuss approaches to urban regeneration, participation and community engagement, looking at examples from other cities.
We also explored key issues around stakeholder engagement, including how to involve those who are still missing, how to tell the story behind an urban transformation, and how testing actions can be used to experiment, learn and adapt. Furthermore, the City Visits allowed us to discover some of Cork’s experiences around urban transformation, learning, health, biodiversity and Equal Rights.
TactiCity also had the opportunity to share some of the experiences of its partners, including Milan’s Piazze Aperte, Budapest XII Municipality’s work on the selection of Testing Action areas and the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence’s approach to involving more vulnerable stakeholders. During our network sessions, we went back to these experiences and worked together on some of the issues that are relevant to our project, using tools such as the Stakeholder Helix Map, the Identity Card and the Canvas Model.
What do we take homes transfer network?
New ideas, questions and approaches to bring back into our local work and, above all, the reminder that a Good Practice is not only about the final result, but also about the people, relationships and processes that make it possible.
