The 2nd Core Network Meeting of the RECUP partnership was hosted by the Mancomunitat de l'Horta Nord team in El Puig on 14-15 May 2025.

For two days we shared experiences, ideas and strategies to connect people and territories through culture.

It was a pleasure to meet all the project partners and to gain such valuable experiences together. The two days were packed with activities.

First Day:

Mayor of El Puig and President of the Mancomunidad de l’Horta Nord greeted participants and opened the 2-day meeting. Újbuda, the Lead Partner, and Lead Expert Elisa Filippi introduced the agenda.

We had a chance to get to know and connect with members through some ice breaking exercises.

Moderated by Elisa Filippi, the Project Partners shared knowledge and updates on local progress and challenges.

Ad-hoc Expert Sandra Rainero gave an insightful presentation about engaging communities through participatory governance. We learned about why participatory governance is crucial in culture. The partners engaged in a collective exercise, reflecting on governance gaps in their own cities.

During a study visit in Mancomunidad de l’Horta Nord we visited the Society of Music La Primitiva in Rafelbunyol and Reading club Rafelbunyol & Library where some of the partners read a poem of their own choice in their native language. It was a really unique experience!

Second Day:

The 2nd day started with a pannel discussion with the participation of Mal Gaitan, from the University of Valencia and Miguel Berbis, composer, teacher, researcher and artistic director. Moderated by Elisa, the members discussed climate-adaptive approaches in urban regeneration and in cultural projects.

Later, Sandra Rainero shared some examples with the members about how culture can contribute to climate action.

In a collective exercise, the members started to visualize and plan their testing actions, and shared their progress with each other.

The 2-day meeting ended with the presentation of the Lead Partner’s  Communication Officer with updates on the communication strategy of RECUP.

All partners are looking forward to the next steps and working hard on the project’s outputs!
