The URBACT IV Programme aims to support sustainable urban development by facilitating knowledge sharing and the transfer of innovative practices among European cities and governments during 2021-2027. A current call for Action Networks invites cities and public authorities to collaborate on implementing concrete local actions based on existing strategies to address urban challenges.

  • URBACT IV Programme objectives: The programme focuses on enhancing the capacity of European cities through transnational networks, enabling urban stakeholders to design integrated sustainable policies, and making knowledge accessible to influence urban policies at various levels, including contributing to the EU Urban Agenda.
  • Action Networks call details: Open from March 17 to June 17, 2026, this call encourages partnerships of 6 to 8 cities or public bodies from EU member and partner states to implement local actions within 30 months, from November 2026 to April 2029, with a maximum budget of EUR 1,000,000.
  • Participation and support: There is no population size limit for participating cities, and proposed actions must align with existing local strategies. An online information session on April 1, 2026, will provide guidance on the call and partnership building. ref](p:28)
