Ravenna has a vision, and we saw it. What happend at the Italian Case Study Meeting?
There is an exciting urban development project taking place in Ravenna right now, that transforms the former port which is an industrial monument, an industrial area into a cultural and creative industries centre. In the process, they engage the public institutions, the local port authorities, owners of private industrial facilities and the local community. The project started off with a participatory process initiated by the Municipality of Ravenna in which they asked inhabitants and local stakeholders how they imagine the further development of the area. This process is still ongoing, and by now they managed to build a community and to create a common vision for the development of the area with the involvement of all the actors. During the study visit, we took a look at the development of the port and the projects currently in progress.
