About CITISENSE
CITISENSE builds on the achievements of the BeSecure-FeelSecure (BSFS) initiative led by Piraeus, leveraging proven methodologies for a holistic approach to urban security. The project integrates governance, technology, and community engagement to address modern security challenges effectively. Its objectives include transferring cutting-edge security tools, launching pilot actions, promoting innovative governance models, and adapting the strategies proven in BSFS to a wider European context.
By fostering best practices, encouraging collaboration, and empowering cities, CITISENSE seeks to enhance community safety and support sustainable urban development across Europe.
A Collaborative Approach to Urban Safety
Running from September 2024 to August 2026, the CITISENSE project brings together six European cities: Piraeus (Greece), Naples (Italy), Liepāja (Latvia), Geel (Belgium), Manresa (Spain) and Fót (Hungary). Spearheaded by the Municipality of Piraeus, the project will leverage the tools, methodologies, and best practices established during the successful BSFS initiative.
Τhe official kick-off meeting took place in Paris on October 1-2, 2024, where representatives from all partner cities convened to outline project goals, share local urban safety experiences, and map out the next six months of collaborative work.
