Between 28 November and 20 December 2025, Gazdagrét came alive with Gazdagréti Ünnepelő – preparing for the holidays together, a vibrant Testing Action within the RECUP project. What began as more than 40 ideas from the Local Action Group (ULG) grew into a full Advent Calendar of community‑driven programs—each one designed to reflect local needs, encourage participation, and strengthen neighbourhood bonds.

The result?

Over 20 diverse events and activities, a pop-up community space, and countless moments of connection.

Below is a look back at everything that made November and December 2025 truly special for the Gazdagrét and Újbuda community.

·       christmas ornament making - workshops at the local library

·      a special movement class to relieve stress – relax and share energy

·       kombucha workshop – how to brew our own kombucha

·       Christmas Flea Market & Craft Fair - to celebrate local creators

·       microgreen workshop - sustainable, fresh additions to holiday meals

·       Ugly Christmas Sweater Charity Run -  for a local charity organisation

·       Christmas Caroling – walking in the neigbourhood with lanterns singing christmas songs

·       linoleum carving workshop – print your own totebag

·       „Locked In With My Loved Ones” – improvised theatre performance blending humour and emotional storytelling.

A New Holiday Home: The ÜnnepElő Community Space

Opened on 2 December, the ÜnnepElő – community space became the heart of the season. Set up in an empty shop unit at the local shopping centre, it offered a welcoming hub where locals could slow down, meet neighbours, and take part in many creative activities. The space hosted workshops, creative sessions and conversations throughout the festive period.

A Community That Came Alive

Across these weeks, Gazdagrét, Újbuda experienced:

  • new collaborations with schools, libraries, local businesses, and artists
  • high community engagement across age groups
  • a powerful sense of belonging
  • the creation of a physical space supporting connections

The Gazdagréti Ünnepelő Testing Action proved that when neighbours are invited to co‑create their neighborhood’s holiday spirit, the results are warm, memorable, and deeply meaningful.
