During the session, the municipality presented the finalised EAP, outlining long-term measures to strengthen urban green infrastructure, improve ecological connectivity, and promote biodiversity restoration across the city. Stakeholders from environmental organisations, local institutions, and community groups joined the event to review the outcomes and discuss pathways for implementation.
Participants also took part in a field activity inspired by the BioBlitz previously organised in the project’s target area, visiting community gardens and the biodiversity pond established under the BiodiverCity framework. The site now includes an interpretive sign explaining the pond’s ecological functions and the micro-habitats designed to support local fauna, reflecting Guimarães’ commitment to ecological education and citizen engagement.
With the Final Dissemination Event completed, Guimarães reaffirms its leading role in advancing biodiversity-friendly urban planning and contributing to the wider goals of the URBACT BiodiverCity network.
