Cities across Europe are increasingly turning to culture as a tool for strengthening social connections and improving well-being. This edition of the RECUP Network Journal explores how arts, creativity, and cultural participation can help address loneliness and social isolation, while supporting more inclusive and resilient urban communities.

A Closer Look at Culture and Connection

The RECUP (REinventing CUlture in Urban Places) network brings together cities that are experimenting with new ways to embed culture into everyday urban life. Through masterclasses, peer‑to‑peer exchanges, and on‑the‑ground testing actions, partners examine how cultural spaces, artistic practices, and community‑led initiatives can reduce isolation and foster a sense of belonging. The journal documents lessons learned, inspiring local examples, and the development of Integrated Investment Plans that aim to make cultural policy a lasting pillar of urban development.
