Jon Aguirre Such

I am an architect and urban planner born in San Sebastian (Spain), master in architecture by ETSA Madrid (UPM University), specialised in urban and environmental planning. I am founding partner of the integrated urban planning office Paisaje Transversal with more than 10 years of professional experience.

I worked on several urban and territorial planning projects. My work is connected to the project management, citizen participation, commiunication,  as well as to the application of digital tools in urban projects.

Founding partner of the office of urban innovation Paisaje Transversal, a company created in 2011, specialized in sustainable urban development, urban and territorial planning processes from an ecological, innovative integrated and participatory perspective.

I have a large experience on Sustainable Urban Development. I participated in over 50 projects during my professional career. I have practical experience on project design, management & implementation, linked to sustainable urban development such as: integrated urban planning, neighbourhood regeneration projects, city centre revitalization, community planning and participatory processes, collaborative design of public space, territorial planning, rural development, urban & retail revitalization, cultural activation, heritage, climate change adaptation, sustainable urban mobility, strategic urban planning, retail and local economy dynamization, etc.

I am an expert in the development of Local Urban Agendas, as well as integrated urban regeneration strategies and citizen participation processes. He has a wide experience in EU funded projects and the management of city networks, especially European funding programmes linked to sustainable urban development. Between 2017 and 2023 Jon has been the coordinator of the URBACT National Point in Spain and in 2020 he was appointed as national expert of the European programme Smart Rural 21.

I have given numerous lectures in specialised forums and events and in different universities. He is currently professor in the Urban Planning department at the School of Architecture of the University of the Basque Country in Donostia / San Sebastián.
