30-year career entirely devoted to spatial economic development, with a special focus on firm performance, creative and cultural economy, innovation spaces, place branding, heritage-led urban regeneration and in general the growing role of cities as key actors for change. Past positions include CEO of the local development agency of Seville and executive for studies and planning at the regional development agency of Andalusia. In 2007 he starts as international consultant through his own advisory boutique, and is also regularly appointed (four times) as Lead Expert for URBACT. In this framework, he has conducted large-scale, transnational capacity building projects leading to concrete local action planning, on a variety of themes, giving support to more than 35 cities. Miguel is a frequent speaker, having contributed to over 80 international seminars and workshops, mostly as co-organizer.
