Riga NGO House expands its activities to other neighborhoods of the city by participating in the neighborhood festival

Sunday, September 13, 2020 was an unusual day in the work of the NGO House as the staff of the NGO House together with different other NGOs participated in the Hospitāļu Street Neighbors' Festival in one of the neighborhoods of Riga - Brasa. Participation in the festival is a practical realisation of proposals put forward in the Improvement Plan at the beginning of the implementation of the project “Riga NGO House - Platform for Cooperation between Non-Governmental Organizations and Municipalities” (ACTive NGOs): to organize events outside the NGO House - in other neighborhoods of Riga.

Malta comitted to health

As a non-city partner, the Maltese Planning Authority is representing the Republic of Malta and participating as a Member State of the EU, rather than a city. The Republic of Malta is composed of an archipelago of islands, the three principal ones being Malta, Gozo and Comino. The capital city of the islands, Valletta, is a peninsula at the centre of Malta’s Principal Urban Area as defined in the nation’s highest spatial planning instrument – the Strategic Plan for the Environment and Development.

The Planning Authority will be able to apply the lessons learned from its participation in the network to the urban planning of the entire archipelago.

On the importance of a transversal approach for public procurement

Schaerbeek is part of the « Making Spend Matter » European funded URBACT Transfer Network, allowing the Municipality to exchange good practices concerning public procurement with fellow cities across Europe.

One of the ways our Municipality has progressed in its sustainable practices is by discussing its procedures and objectives internally and externally with our URBACT partners. This is indeed necessary, as public procurement is a complex administrative act, with many interdependent aspects.

URBACT Local Groups are key in the construction of partner cities’ Educational Innovation Networks (EIN). They represent the different stakeholders that will take part in the future Educational Innovation Networks and they are contributing to lay its foundations.
