  • Multicultural reverberations by Anke van Wijck Adán

This summer the streets of the historic upper quarters of Mula reverberated with the still rather unencompassed sounds of cheering drums. In the month of August, four courses on percussion music were organised for local and immigrant children in these neighbourhoods and constitute the first phase of Mula's Small Scale Action in the context of the KAIRÓS Project.

  • A Bumpy Road to Thriving Streets

Author: Béla Kézy, Lead Expert of ThrivingSTREETS

The article presenting the Thriving Streets URBACT Action Planning Network, and its ambitions was published on 2020 February 5 on the URBACT website. It reflected optimism, dedication, and commitment of all partners to address the challenge at hand: reducing car-dependency in their cities, making them “more healthy, attractive, accessible, inclusive and thriving places”. It quickly turned out, though, that our plan was like those proverbial battle plans that did not survive the first encounter with the enemy.

  • Local processing with high standards of sustainability: Funky Forest in Szécsény/Hungary

Agri Kulti has been researching those areas where sustainable, small-scale Hungarian food producers can gain market opportunities for more than a decade. As a result, several farmer’s markets were opened: in Nagymaros in 2011, at Szimpla Kert in 2012 and at Balassagyarmat in Nógrád county in 2014. Continuing this line we started Házikó Catering and a few Farmbistros where in Budapest we exclusively cooked with ingredients coming from small-scale farmers, meaning that the farmers didn’t even have to go to the market that much – they just supplied their products to us.
