Summary
Daniele Terzariol is an urban policy expert with a strong background in local governance, urban regeneration, placemaking, and EU-funded programmes. He brings over a decade of experience as Deputy Mayor and Councillor in San Donà di Piave, part of the Metropolitan City of Venice. He has worked extensively with the URBACT programme: as representative of the lead partner city during "City Centre Doctor" (URBACT III), as Ad-hoc Expert on local governance and placemaking, and currently as External Expert for two URBACT IV Action Planning Networks – “Beyond the Urban” (Treviso) and “GreenPlace” (Quarto d’Altino).
In parallel with his fieldwork, he teaches, as Professor, "Creative Cities and Territorial Development" at Burgundy School of Business (University of Dijon – Paris) and "Architecture of Public Spaces" at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. His approach combines strategic vision with participatory and culture-driven methods to reimagine urban spaces. He also serves as an Expert for the European Urban Initiative (EUI) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), supporting cities across Europe in developing integrated urban strategies.
His recent work focuses on the cultural dimensions of cities and metro areas, with particular interest in soundscaping, biophony, and the regeneration of urban spaces through music, arts, and play. He explores how creative and playful practices can reshape perceptions, activate communities, and foster inclusive, liveable environments.
Daniele is also a former Young Elected Politician (YEP) of the Committee of the Regions, where he contributed to European dialogue on european democracy, youth participation, and cross-border cooperation. He regularly speaks at national and international events and urban labs. Currently serving his third term as head of the progressive opposition in his hometown.
