Welcome to the URBACT Online Course on Digital Transition in Cities
This module will introduce some of the key tech terms cities need to understand to benefit more from digital transitions.
It will define the following ‘essential eight’ technologies and outline how these might be relevant to cities:
- Artificial intelligence (AI)
- Internet of things and connected devices (IoT)
- Blockchain
- Augmented reality (AR)
- Robotics
- Drones
- Virtual reality (VR)
- 3-D printing
This module is for non tech teams in city authorities and their stakeholders. It will help them to know enough about some basic tech terms and concepts to be able to speak more knowledgeably to tech colleagues.
Upon completion of this module participants should be able to:
- Understand that tech is an ever changing landscape that is constantly evolving
- Define [8] key terms
- Understand how these might be used in a city
