Citizens Omnibus - Call for evidence open until 19 June 2026

The European Commission has launched a Call for Evidence on the Citizens Omnibus Initiative.

The European Commission has published a Call for Evidence on Citizens Omnibus Initiative, aiming at reducing administrative burdens, open until 19 June 2026.

The Citizens Omnibus aims to establish a process to reduce administrative burdens in EU legislation that directly affect the daily lives of people legally residing in the EU.

The Commission invites citizens and civil society organisations to respond to the open Call for Evidence. The goal is to ensure they can fully benefit from the single market without facing disproportionate administrative or legal barriers, especially in cross-border situations. It will provide an opportunity for targeted amendments to EU legislation that cut red tape and simplify rules.

As part of the preparatory process for the Citizens Omnibus, the technical dialogue on district transformation, organised by the Commission and the European Urban Initiative in Rome on 16 June 2026, will contribute to the collection of inputs and the preparatory process for the Citizens Omnibus. This event will invite participants from civil society organisations and other urban stakeholders. It offers an opportunity to contribute to the targeted consultation on the Citizens’ Omnibus Initiative, to exchange with participating Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on the views of citizens on district transformation, in particular on how to set strategies to make better use of existing buildings, as well as on supporting inclusive social and affordable housing investments that are resilient and sustainable in the long term.
