    Ko iščemo dobre prakse trajnostnega urbanega razvoja, vedno znova naletimo na Gent, mesto z 320.000 prebivalci v flamskem delu Belgije. Gent je pionir na mnogo področjih. Že v devetdesetih je začel uvajati politike za spodbujanje kolesarjenja, kar ga v kombinaciji z učinkovitim javnim prevozom uvršča med vodilna evropska mesta na področju trajnostne mobilnosti. Zelo prodorni so tudi ko gre za začasno rabo, z umeščanjem različnih programov v degradirana območja in stavbe oživljajo dele mesta in krepijo družbeno povezanost.
